Advancing the Employment, Financial Security, & Independence of People with Disabilities
After working in state and federal disability services, Sarah Martinez saw an apparent need for services that address both employment and financial security to support individuals with disabilities live more fulfilling, independent lives. Thus, Advancing Futures LLC was born.
Sarah is an expert in navigating Iowa’s disability services system and employment for people with disabilities and works directly with Advancing Futures’ consumers to meet their goals.
Sarah served as the Executive Director of Access 2 Independence of the Eastern Iowa Corridor, Inc. in Iowa City, Iowa, and provided technical assistance nationally to new executive directors and training projects through the Independent Living Research Utilization (ILRU). Prior to working in Independent Living, she was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services with a focus in youth pre-employment transition services.
Sarah is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with a master's degree in rehabilitation and mental health counseling from the University of Iowa and bachelor's in human services from Purdue University.
